The gendering of objects is inherently an absurd and reductive act. In this body of work, items that are often gendered according to patriarchal binaries are reframed as queer, through bold manipulations of colour, light and perspective. This aims to undermine the accepted hierarchies that have benefited from the ascribing of objects to masculinity or femininity, such as tools or beauty products. Unconventional groupings of familiar objects prompt questions about how we have been conditioned to interpret them, and by extension, identity itself. Through highly detailed and hypercoloured drawings, an inclusive and empowering conception of identity is celebrated, to strengthen our individual and collective freedoms.
